In 2014, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) developed the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) for Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI). This standard was created to provide a global framework for the collection, reporting, and exchange of financial account information about people that invest outside of their jurisdiction of tax residence.
The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) implemented CRS in New Zealand in 2018. From that time as required under the CRS, Fidelity Life has been reporting information it holds in relation to financial accounts maintained by its customers who are tax resident/located in a jurisdiction outside New Zealand.
