Terms and conditions.

These terms and conditions (Terms) apply to all persons (the Participant, you and your) who registers to attend Fidelity Life Career connect programme (Career connect) which is run from April to November 2025 through online study and/or workshop sessions in Auckland by Fidelity Life Assurance Company Limited (Fidelity Life, we, us and our). By registering for and/or attending Career connect, you are deemed to have accepted these Terms.

1. Registration and Fees

1.1 Each Participant will register for Career connect via the link contained in the email. Fidelity Life accepts no liability for any registrations not properly completed or received. Additionally, each Participant will be responsible to complete their own registration with Massey University for the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (Life, Disability and Health Insurance) (the Programme).

1.2 The cost of your contribution to Career connect is:

1.2.1 $1,450.00 to be paid by the Participant, which is the cost of the Programme (reflecting a 20% discount to the retail price, with the discount code to be supplied by us to you);

1.2.2 any compulsory additional administration fees payable to Massey University as advised to you by Massey University or as set out on the Massey University website, as may be amended from time to time in accordance with the policies and enrolment terms of Massey University.

1.3 The amounts to be paid by you set out in clause 1.2 must be paid in full directly to Massey University by the date specified. Once enrolled, no fees are refundable unless permitted by Massey University under their terms and conditions of enrolment. For the avoidance of doubt, Fidelity Life does not agree to fund or subsidise your fees for the Programme payable to Massey University, unless otherwise agreed in writing with you. The enrolment fees payable by you do not include any extensions to courses or postponement of the Programme or entitle you to reimbursement for any travel, accommodation or other costs that may be incurred by you when participating in and/or completing the Programme.

1.4 Career connect also includes comprehensive and extensive hands-on educational and skills training and support services provided by Fidelity Life, including:

  • Study groups to support your training and participation in the Programme
  • Code of conduct and legislation training
  • Client solutioning training
  • Lead generation techniques and training
  • Connection to support setting up your own business (if required)
  • Fidelity Life product training
  • Ongoing mentorship that enables you to build connections and supporters within the industry
  • Sales skills training and coaching
  • Personal brand development

All remaining costs of Career connect as set out in this clause 1.4 will be paid by Fidelity Life at no additional cost to you.

1.5 The training modules can be completed whilst you are still employed, however you will need to commit time outside of your current role for this purpose. We anticipate that the Programme will take six (6) months part-time to complete whilst continuing to work in your current role.

2. Expectations and Outcomes

2.1 Career connect is Fidelity Life’s response to addressing the underinsurance gap, providing greater opportunity for a diverse group of people and talent to join the financial services industry and meet the needs of a younger, culturally diverse New Zealand by growing the risk industry to ensure that all New Zealand families can have better access to individualised financial advice. We are excited to be partnering with you in relation to your interest in training as a financial adviser and your enrolment in the Programme, which will provide you with the skills, competency and knowledge to enable you to excel and build a long-term sustainable career in financial advice.

2.2 Fidelity Life will facilitate training sessions for Career connect however gives no warranties in respect of any aspect of Career connect training or any materials related thereto and does not accept any responsibility or liability for reliance by you or any person on any aspect of Career connect and/or any materials provided.

2.3 We may provide connections to adviser businesses who are looking for new talent, however we do not provide any guarantee of your employment with any adviser business. You will need to negotiate your remuneration and terms of employment directly with the adviser business if you are offered employment with them.

2.4 You agree that there will be additional costs in progressing your career when you obtain a placement with an adviser business and these costs will be advised by the adviser business upon your engagement.

2.5 All financial advisers are regulated under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013, as amended. If you do secure a role as a financial adviser, you will be required to meet certain duties and obligations and comply with the Code of Professional Conduct, which outlines the standards of ethical behaviour, conduct, client care, competence, knowledge and skill you need to meet when providing financial advice to clients.

2.6 You agree that these Terms and the cost of providing Career connect or any part of the cost of the Programme covered by us shall not be construed as creating an employment relationship between you and us nor do they create an obligation on us to secure your employment with any adviser business or any other related party.

3. Participant’s Obligations

3.1 You are required to attend the entire Programme, co-operate with all instructions given and complete all the Career connect training modules. If you experience illness or other personal difficulties which may affect your attendance or performance, you should discuss this with us at the earliest opportunity.

3.2 You must complete and pass the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (Life, Disability and Health) course pursuant to the NZQA Standards, by either full time or part time study, within six months of the start date of your enrolment in the Programme.

3.3 You will not do anything while participating in Career connect or enrolled in the Programme which brings or would be likely bring us or our brand into disrepute.

4. Termination and Cancellation Policy

4.1 Your enrolment in Career connect will automatically terminate without written notice to you if you fail to pass the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (Life, Disability and Health) course pursuant to the NZQA Standards and obtain the Certificate.

4.2 We may terminate our agreement with you immediately by written notice to you if we reasonably believe that:

4.2.1 you have acted fraudulently or behaved in a way that we consider unacceptable having regard to the nature of the Programme and/or Career connect;

4.2.2 you have a breached any of these Terms and failed to remedy the breach after receiving a written notice from us specifying the term that has been breached and what we want you to do to remedy it (if anything) and you have not remedied it within ten (10) business days of receiving our written notice.

4.3 If you are no longer able to attend Career connect, you must notify Fidelity Life in writing by giving no less than thirty (30) business days’ written notice prior to the start date of Career connect (such notice can be given via electronic mail to adviseredge@fidelitylife.co.nz). Fidelity Life will acknowledge receipt of your notice via return electronic mail.

5. Marketing and Promotion

5.1 We have the right to use your name and images obtained in relation to your participation in Career connect for promotional purposes and these materials will remain our property.

5.2 You agree that, after your participation in Career connect has concluded, we may contact you to explore opportunities for you to share your experience. You will have the option to participate in events hosted by us to celebrate and promote Career connect. This may include, without limitation, speaking engagements, writing articles, and taking part in interviews and media stories, by mutual agreement.

6. Liability and Indemnity

6.1 You expressly agree that Fidelity Life and its related entities and each of their respective legal representatives, directors, agents, employees, contractors and officers shall not be liable for any loss, injury or damage of any kind whatsoever suffered directly or indirectly by any person, possession or property in connection with Career connect or any other activities of Fidelity Life, for any reason whatsoever, no matter how that loss, injury or damage was caused.

6.2 You agree to indemnify Fidelity Life for any actual, incurred and direct losses, damages, costs and expenses incurred arising out of non-compliance with any reasonable rules, guidance or instructions provided by any Fidelity Life or venue representative in the course of Career connect.

6.3 Unless otherwise agreed by Fidelity Life, access to the premises of Fidelity Life at Level 4, 136 Fanshawe Street, Auckland 1010 (Fidelity Premises) will be via reception / sign in portal. You may be given passes and/or security cards which must be worn at all times in accordance with Fidelity Life’s policies. Any passes or security cards must be handed in to Fidelity Life’s reception when leaving the Fidelity Premises. The loss of any pass or security card must be reported immediately to Fidelity Life’s reception. Fidelity Life has the right to remove from the Fidelity Premises any Participant who, in Fidelity Life’s opinion, may endanger the safety or welfare of any person, compromise the security of the Fidelity Premises or Fidelity Life’s systems, or fail to comply with Fidelity Life’s internal procedures, policies or controls.

7. Confidentiality and Privacy

7.1 During your participation in Career connect, we and/or you may become aware of confidential information about each other, and other parties related to Career connect. Confidential information includes these Terms, and any information in any form provided by one of us to the other. It includes any personal information and information relating to the business assets, affairs, operations, financial position, policies, products, services, customers, employees, contractors, third party providers and intellectual property.

7.2 Confidential information does not include information which is now or later becomes in the public domain or that was known to each of us unrelated to your participation in Career connect.

7.3 Any confidential information remains the property of the party to whom it belongs and relates and should be kept confidential by the other party and used only for the purposes set out under these Terms and be disclosed only where required for the purposes of performance under these Terms or with the other party’s written consent.

7.4 In the case that either of us becomes aware that any confidential information has been or may have been accessed, used, stored, reproduced or disclosed in a manner that does not comply with this clause we must notify each other immediately and provide all reasonable assistance to each other, including co-operating in any action which must be taken to protect the confidentiality, privacy and security of the confidential information.

7.5 All personal information will be collected, used, stored and disclosed in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, and in accordance with our Privacy Policy which can be accessed here: https://fidelitylife.nz/corporate/privacy-statement/. The primary purpose for collection of the information is for administration of Career connect.

8. Miscellaneous

8.1 Fidelity Life reserves the right to change, suspend or cancel these Terms at any time by notice in writing to you.

8.2 Where disputes or issues arise, we will work collaboratively together to try to find a solution. We will do this by first meeting with each other to discuss the issues. If we cannot resolve the issues ourselves then we agree to engage a mediator to help us. If we can’t agree on one, we will have one appointed by the President of the New Zealand Law Society.

8.3 Clauses 6, 7 and 8.2 will survive termination of these Terms, together with such provisions of these Terms that are by their nature intended to survive termination.

8.4 All intellectual property rights in and to Career connect content and all materials distributed at or in connection with Career connect are owned by Fidelity Life (other than materials owned or provided by Massey University). You may not use or reproduce (or allow anyone to use or reproduce) any such intellectual property (including any written content or materials) for any reason without the prior written approval of Fidelity Life.

8.5 All workshop events are held within New Zealand.

8.6 These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
