Paperless Direct Debit Terms and Conditions

Paperless Direct Debit Terms and Conditions

You have provided Fidelity Life (us/we) with a paperless direct debit instruction authorising us to take direct debits from your nominated bank account as stipulated in the direct debit confirmation provided to you.

You may cancel the direct debit instruction at any time by giving written notice of termination to your bank or directly to us.

Fidelity Life is required to give you a written notice of the amount and date of the first direct debit in a series of direct debits no later than 10 calendar days before the date of the first direct debit in the series.

If Fidelity Life proposes to change the amount or date of a direct debit specified in the direct debit confirmations, we are required to give you notice of the change no less than 30 calendar days before the change.

You may ask your bank to reverse a direct debit up to 120 calendar days after the debit if:

  • you don’t receive written notice stipulating the amount and date of the first direct debit in the series from us, or
  • you receive written notice but the amount or the date of debiting is different from the amount, or the date specified on the notice.

If you dispute any direct debit taken from your nominated account and the dispute arises within 9 months from the first direct debit date, Fidelity Life must provide copies of your paperless direct debit instructions and confirmation within 10 business days. If Fidelity Life fails to do so, then your bank can reverse the direct debit(s).

If the disputed transaction(s) is outside of the 9-month period, then the dispute will be resolved between us and you.

If you reasonably believe that the direct debit instructions were given as a result of forgery, fraud or error, your bank may reverse the direct debit(s).

If you would like to make any changes to your direct debit, we require at least 10 days notice before the date of your scheduled direct debit. We cannot stop or hold deductions due to insufficient funds in your nominated bank account and we do not take responsibility for any bank fees incurred or consequences from defaulted payments.

These Paperless Direct Debit Terms and Conditions may be changed, amended or updated at any time.
