Lost locks raise much-needed dollars
Fidelity Life has once again shown its support for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s (LBC) annual fundraiser Shave for a Cure, raising an unbeatable amount for the special cause.
After a closely fought battle for the top corporate fundraising spot, Fidelity Life took top honours on the fundraising leader board during Shave Week, with a total sum raised of $18,519.
Fidelity Life has a long history of supporting LBC through their shave efforts and other fundraising initiatives. Several staff members are feeling the cooler weather after shaving their hair off for this year’s fundraiser.
The official Shave Week saw hundreds of Kiwis give up their hair for the cause with the latest campaign tally standing at around $880,000.
“We are incredibly grateful to Fidelity Life for supporting Shave for a Cure each year and for supporting LBC over so many years in such a substantial way. On behalf of patients and families we are very appreciative,” says LBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Pru Etcheverry.
LBC is the national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with blood cancers and related blood conditions.
The organisation does not receive government funding – the dollars raised from Shave for a Cure help fund core services including patient support, support and funding for research, awareness and advocacy.
