Our community |
Fidelity Life is a proud supporter of those making a positive difference in the community. As an insurance company we see the effects of illness on individuals and family members on a daily basis as part of our work. We know that illness or death can affect anyone, at any time, at any age, so we are pleased to support the following health related causes:
- Leukaemia & Blood Foundation - New Zealand's leading resource of information specifically for patients, family members and friends affected by leukaemia and related blood conditions
- Multiple Sclerosis Society of Auckland - Serving people with MS and their families in Auckland, Manukau and Waitakere Cities, as well as Papakura and Franklin Districts
Fidelity Life has also raised money in support of the Cancer Society of New Zealand, The Hearing House and Movember.

Our environment |
We are also proud of our efforts to decrease our impact on the environment. As concerns about global warming and waste reduction become more important, we need to address the effect that we are having on the earth, so future generations can enjoy the natural environment. |
Fidelity Life’s environmental committee meet regularly to explore how we can reduce the company’s impact on the environment. The volunteer committee has initiated the following projects:
- Implementation of a recycling system in the Auckland office, diverting 10 tonnes of paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and tins into recycling in the year to 20 June 2008. This included 109 240-litre wheelie bins of paper.
- Changing our office printers to automatic double-sided printing and encouraging staff to print only what they need has resulted in the Auckland office reducing copy paper usage by one third from 2007 to 2008.
- An energy audit of the Auckland office earlier in 2008 highlighted how we could make power consumption savings. We are re-lamping all the florescent tubes in the offices with new energy efficient bulbs which last twice as long as standard ones and use 10% less electricity. All the old tubes have been recycled.
- Our Christchurch office recycles toner and print cartridges through Toner Recycling Centre. They also recycle cardboard and paper.
As a New Zealand company we are proud of our unique flora and fauna. We are pleased to be involved with the Dawn Chorus initiative of the New Zealand National Parks and Conservation Foundation.
Drawing inspiration from the sound of birds at dawn, "Dawn Chorus" has been developed by the Conservation Foundation to bring more focus and meaning to conservation for all New Zealanders. With over 1,200 endangered species in New Zealand it is time to work towards the restoration and preservation of the Dawn Chorus.
